A mixture as volatile as hop hop, klezmer, and dub would seem to be set to blow up in an explosion of confusion and missteps from the start. However, on Balkan Beat Box’s second effort, Nu Med, the group manages to combine all of those styles and more into a sonic stew that stirs the soul. Completely refreshing and surprising, BBB’s newest effort is an album that stands to be seen as more than a record that is relegated to the dreaded and ethnocentric “world music” tag and will shine based on its ingenuity and quality.

I missed them at Lotus. Where can I get their CD? Are the big enough that I can find it at Best Buy?
