Post What?!?! – The Column (Issue III)

It’s not everyday that AP wires, news sources and bloggers stumble across bizarre news—actually, the cycle runs through just about every other day. Lucky for us, because today’s What?!?! news includes all the juicies: from dead satellites to Martian Yetis to the undead.

NSC spy satellite has died and they have no idea where it will land – If you thought Defcon 4 was interesting, check out the upcoming real-life thriller “Heads up!” starring a 20,000 pound spy satellite loaded with plutonium power, plummeting to a theater near you! National Security Council officials announced that they have not only lost control of the satellite, but have no idea what planet it will crash into. Later in the statement, defense and intelligence expert John Pike offered the comforting statistic that the crash will likely create 10 times less debris than the explosion of the Columbia space shuttle crash in 2003. Oh, so it’ll be like a soft, cuddly puppy explosion, right?

NASA panorama reveals Yeti-like figure – What’s worse than Photoshopped images of monsters in the woods on Earth? The answer is official NASA photos of Bigfoot monsters roaming other planets. The Mars Exploration Rover Spirit recently took a large panorama image of Mars’ surface which revealed the tiny, pixilated creature/rock/terrorist. The planetary society hasn’t done much but chuckle at the speculation, but this bit will make a damn good contribution to the Sci-Fi channel’s highlight reel.

Chilean man wakes up at his own wake – Looking to pull a fast one on your family? Play dead for a few days and scare the hell out of your crying nephew! Apparently, the 81-year old man’s family discovered his body “limp and cold” and immediately arranged for the funeral, skipping the whole medial opinion thing. While it's a great story, it ain't got nothin' on Weekend at Bernie's II. Only in Chile.

Seriously? there was no news this week, so this was released. Did you read that these photos were taken in NOVEMBER?! I mean, sounds like this was in the back of some tabloid's file drawer for a rainy day....
