Post What?!?! – The Column (Issue II)

If you haven’t visited the infamous IUplanet “What?!?!” page, check it out. It’s full of useless clips and random sites that will have you asking “What the hell just happened?” That entire phrase wouldn’t be very catchy, so we just snagged the first word and tossed in some dramatic over-punctuation. Anyhow, here are a few news bits that will leave your brain equally irritated.

John Gibson’s off-color Ledger remarks – Every media outlet has a shock jock or two. It seems Fox News staffed their entire schedule with them. It works miracles ratings and gives us constant material. With the passing of actor Heath Ledger, host John Gibson decided it’d be appropriate to flip the famous line “I wish I knew how to quit you” which Ledger had in the gay cowboy movie, Brokeback Mountain. Instead, the homophobe joked that Ledger “quit” life, repeatedly playing the clip. Classy.

Gamers get the last laugh on Amazon — Wow, I didn’t even mean to do that, but it looks like you get a double dose of Fox News tonight as we transition from homophobes to violent gaming. Apparently, psychologist Cooper Lawrence spent his spot on a Fox news segment bashing popular Xbox 360 game Mass Effect, saying it contains a cut scene featuring “full digital nudity and sex.” Unfortunately, his statement not only offended some gamers, but turned out to be completely false. Maybe that’s why the book he plugged on the program was systematically barraged with over 500 one-star reviews and mock “customer images.” Poor guy. I wonder if he’s actually played the game since?

Tunick's naked photography – Now before you go on your daily porn surf, how about checking out some real art for a change? Slate’s Mia Fineman has catalogued some of her favorite works from photographer Spencer Tunick. His work capitalizes on the human—gathering en masse in public. Score! What?!?! You said the same thing.

Haha that story about the video game is hilarious, Fox News WOULD broadcast a opinion like that. Talk about misinformed!
