Christmas is a time for family, bonding, and leisure. After opening presents, there is often a lot of time left to fill. My family often fills that time with Christmas movies, and over the years, we have come up with some movies that we love to watch every year. Here it is, my list of favorite Christmas movies.
1)
It's a Wonderful Life
The classic with James Stewart really doesn't get old. The story of family man George Bailey touches the heart. I've seen it three times already this year and I'm ready to watch it again. It will never get old.
2)
Elf
It seems like people either love it or hate it, but I love it. It was one of Will Ferrell's first big movie roles and since then he hasn't looked back. The sarcastic take on Christmas is funny, but can also be meaningful. Just don't eat the yellow snow.
3)
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Chevy Chase as the head of the Griswold family seems to embody the average American family. Every family has its nuts, quirks, and weirdos. That's why the movie is so funny.
4)
Home Alone
It was one of my favorites as a kid and I often forget it's a Christmas movie. Sure, Macaulay Culkin has gone weird on us, but he was cute a relatable in the movie. I'm glad that my house has never been robbed.
5)
A Christmas Story
Ralphie and his Red Rider BB gun relate to many boys growing up. I love the narration and the humor never gets old. I just need to get my hands on one of those sexy lamps.
