Christmas is in less than 24 hours, and it's probably too late in most places to get last minute gifts. But in the spirit of IUplanet and the holiday season, I thought it would make sense to make a list of things we can all ask for (that way we have a better chance of getting them). Here goes:
*
An Insight Bowl win
Football's not even my favorite sport at Indiana University, but I want this so badly. Making a bowl will help the program a little, but winning a bowl will help the program a lot. Let's hope that we not only beat Oklahoma State, let's hope that we kill them.
*
Eric Gordon to play like he did at the start of the year
Not that Gordon's not amazing any more, but his 2 of 13 shooting against Coppin State and a few other performances lately has shown vulnerabililty. I liked it better when it appeared nothing could stop the kid.
*
A complete turnaround for the womens basketball team
They may have been at or below .500 at certain points earlier in the season, but all of a sudden, they're winning big games (especially against No. 13 West Virginia). What if the men weren't the only IU basketball team to make the NCAA tournament? That would be pretty cool, though few would notice.
*
James Hardy to stay for his senior year
In some ways, it doesn't make a lot of sense. He would risk getting injured, losing value, and possibly missing out on the big leagues. But the kid is our best offensive weapon. He makes IU football fun to watch, so can you blame me for wanting him to stay?
*
Kellen Lewis to gain his invincibility back
I'm not quite sure what happened midseason. Sure, we finished with a 7-5 record and we're going to a bowl, but I'm still a bit nervous about Kellen. I miss the scrambling madman, the guy who was a shorter Vince Young. For some reason, Kellen got scared to run. Let's hope he's over that now.
*
The mens soccer team to win the national championship
We had a great year, but it's one that few will remember because we were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Let's hope that next year, we make sure we're remembered.
