Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton owes Indiana University $35,628

Tuition for Indiana University students can range anywhere from $13,975 to $30,176, depending on a student’s in- or out-of-state status. Among other things, a percentage of that hefty tuition is used to attract a wide assortment of the most remarkable lecturers and speakers to the university.

Usually, such speakers require a smorgasbord of security and services for their events, which aren’t cheap. Until today, Senator Hillary Clinton hadn’t paid $55,000 to the university for appearances made by herself, her husband and her daughter during March and April.

Today, according to the IDS, she managed to squeeze out $19,372 for her husband’s appearance. For the non-math majors out there, this means Senator Clinton is still sitting on $35,628 of our tuition. Good grief!

"We try to pay our invoices as they come in within about a month," said Clinton’s campaign spokesman Issac Baker in an interview with the IDS. "We very much appreciate the university's hospitality and being willing to host us."

Baker must certainly be sporting his optimist hat every morning, because the rest of the 35K is getting tougher to come across as the campaign’s debt continues to heighten. The IDS reported that Clinton’s spending reports last week included $19.5 million in debts.

While her campaign will, no doubt, pay off the debt by November at the latest, the situation is a Page Ranking Manager’s worst nightmare. Of course, Barack’s campaign has paid the $108,142 it owed for a couple of campus events, one in which Dave Matthews played for students.

For those keeping score, Senator John McCain has yet to show his face on campus this year, and thus does not owe the university a penny.

What do you think about this catastrophe? Talk about it in our forums.

I wouldn't really call it a catastrophe that she hasn't paid IU back yet. That's not really a huge sum of money and I think it's pretty commonplace for that to happen.

Her overall financial situation overall though, now THAT'S a catastrophe.
