Suggested Bar Crawl: May 7, 2008

This summer, we’re going to make crawling the bars of Bloomington a whole lot easier. Wednesday night’s a big one for those who decided to stay in town for the summer, but it takes a bit of research to plan a healthy circuit of the bars. Here’s my suggested crawl for tonight:

Start off at Jake's over on Walnut, and get in on the Beer Pong Tournament from 10pm-12pm. Judging by the fact that your game’s been a bit off since your Freshman year streak, your stay in the tournament shouldn’t last too long. But take advantage of the $3 pitchers of Bud, $2 Long Islands and $1 wells drinks while you’re at it.

Once you get your behind pummeled in beer pong, head up to Sports to grab your second wind, because everything’s half off on Wednesdays! For many, this would be the first and last stop of the Wednesday evening, but you’re a true bar crawler. So get a few drinks that you normally wouldn’t dish out the scrilla for, impress a few ladies and gentlemen, and get out of there—we’re goin’ to The Bird!

Usually, The Bluebird’s appeal depends on the band playing on any particular night. But tonight, we don’t care who’s playing—it’s 15 cent pints and 50 cent wells, folks! And ladies, if you happen to skip a few of the prior stops on this suggested crawl, you may be able to get into The Bird free before 11.

Your final stop is completely contingent upon whether you’d like to hike several blocks north to 10th Street or several blocks south to Kirkwood. Head north, and you can take advantage of Yogi’s Midnight Madness from 12-2, during which they feature a classy 50 cent special on 12oz Bud Lites. The entire night, however, they offer $1.50 wells drinks and select domestic drafts.

Head south to Upstairs Pub however, and you’ll find (tonight only) $3 doubles of Jack Daniels, Tanqueray, Absolut and Stoli, $2 import bottles, and $1 domestic bottles.

Love this route? Hate this route? Did you take this crawl on, or one similar to it? Let us know! Check out the fullsize map if you really need directions.

Be sure to check out BloomingtonDrinkSpecials.com and our own Bloomington Bars Forum for more insight on B-Town's finest drinking holes.

What we left out

At Nick’s English Hut on Wednesdays, indulge in the $3 Bacardi Bombs special, $6.75 pitchers of Bud, $2.75 import bottles of the week, $1.50 well drinks and $2.75 for all microbrews.

The Crazy Horse offers deals for the more mature crowd, with half price on bottles of wine, $5 Coors Lite pitchers, $6 Killians pitchers and $7 Blue Moon pitchers. Definitely some worthwhile specials.

Wednesdays at Coach’s Bar and Grill are “Old School Wednesdays,” with $4 Bud pitchers and 25 cent chicken wings.

Also be sure to check out the $3 import drafts at Billy’s Chicago Place.

Hmm, I've never taken this EXACT plan, although it does look good. I have, however, done the Jakes, Sports, Bluebird thing-- and that's pretty fun. I recommend it. But like ya said, make sure the Bluebird band is a good one, or you'll feel like an ass for payin their cover
