2008 Election Predictions: Make 'em here

On the eve of Election Day, I thought it would be fun to have some interaction and predictions about what we think will happen tomorrow. Here’s what I propose, for anyone who wants to, let’s make our predictions here on IUplanet.com, and after the elections are finally decided – whenever that may be - we’ll look back and see who was the closest. Just for fun, no prizes or anything.

There are so many elections, so here are the possible ones we can predict. You can choose to predict any or all of these races:
  1. Presidential Race (Obama (D) v McCain (R)): Electoral Votes (national vote percentage if you are adventurous)
  2. Indiana Gubernatorial Race (Long Thompson (D) v Daniels (R)): Winner
  3. District 9 Congressional Race (Hill (D) v Sodrel (R)): Winner

I only listed the major party candidates, but if you feel a third party candidate will win, you can certainly predict that.

Because I am writing the article I get the blessing (or curse) of making the first predictions: so here they are.

Presidential Race: Obama wins with 325 Electoral votes to McCain’s 216
• I’ll say the national percentage will be Obama 50.5 to McCain’s 45.5 with the rest left over for other candidates.
Indiana Gubernatorial Race: Daniels beats Long Thompson (by around 20% of the vote)

District 9 Congressional Race: Hill beats Sodrel (by around 5%)

And, just as a side note, I am going to say that Democrats will reach 58 total seats in the Senate, while gaining 28 seats in the House.

an upset in the making

McCain 270, Obama 268 as the swing states all come to their senses, driven by
"Selfishness" in not wanting their wealth redistributed, and not wanting the coal industry to be "bankrupted" and their electric bills to "skyrocket" (all Obama promises)

Popular vote essentially a tie at 49.7 each, with the minor candidates taking the crumbs

Daniels over JLT, 56-44

Hill beats Sodrel. Burton, Buyer and Carson also return to congress

it's apparent my optimism was misplaced

networks are calling Ohio for Obama. the chances that McCain will get to 270 are almost nil

congrats to Obama. You've earned the most important post in the world.

my sincere wishes for a successful 4 years. keep us safe and strong.
