2 Issue Election?

So, I have been following the election fairly closely. And, I especially like watching the debates. However, have you noticed every question asked in the debates seems to only be about the economy or national security?

Yes, I know the economy is in shambles, and I know we all care about what happens with our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. But, are those really the only two issues people in America care about?

What about Abortion, Judicial Nominations, Education, Gun Control, Immigration, and Entitlements (although they did talk about this a little in Presidential debate #2)?

Are these issues all non-issues for Americans this year? Or is it good that we are only talking about the economy and national security?

great question

"Abortion, Judicial Nominations, Education, Gun Control, Immigration, and Entitlements" are all super important.

when the 1st debate was said to be primarily on, i think, these two issues of nat security + the economy, i thought that each debate would carry a separate theme

then the 2nd debate had the same theme, or so i think

why are we debating the same issues over and over again? i think that this may have contributed to the lacklusterness, if i may, of this past 2nd debate...

these two dialogues are very important, but youre right, theyre not the only ones on the table.

Yea, I totally agree. Actually the first debate was supposed to be solely on National Security. But with the bailout bill and the financial crisis happening all in the week prior, they devoted a lot of time too it (more than i thought was necessary).

And, I think town hall debates are Supposed to be open to whatever questions the audience wants, but Brokaw said that he read over and choose all the ?s that would be asked, and even asked 1 or 2 of his own. So, it wasn't really a town hall format by definition.

But, lets hope that we can get some dialogue on some other important issues form here on out...although I am not crossing my fingers.

i think this is becoming a 1 issue election

"Do the voters think Obama is qualified to be president?"

if yes, he wins
if no, McCain does

Bailout, abortion, Iraq...nobody cares any more

yeah, my "cynic meter" just went redline

That is an interesting take. I however feel that if this were truly the only question, McCain would be closer than he is now. I feel this is the one issue McCain has that he can win on.

If this election really only has 1 question, I think it is "Do you trust another Republican to be President after this financial crisis." And I think the answer to that is a resounding NO, and that is why Obama has picked up so much support since the crisis.
