The fate of the men’s soccer team has finally been determined. The Hoosiers have earned a No. 4 seed in the 48-team NCAA tournament field. As a result, they will receive a buy through the first round of play. Their first match will come against the winner of the DePaul/Bradley game on Wed. November 28. The game will be played at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington.
Showing the strength of Indiana’s schedule, ten of the teams they played in the regular season are in the NCAA tournament, including No. 5 seed Ohio State, No. 8 seed Creighton, No. 9 seed Northwestern, No. 10 seed Notre Dame and No. 13 seed Maryland. The Hoosiers also at one point beat nationally-ranked No. 1 UCLA (1-0), No. 10 Michigan (3-2), No. 24 Michigan State (2-0), No. 6 Northwestern (1-0), and No. 4 Notre Dame. The squad has gone 10-1-3 in its last 14 games and allowed only one goal in the last 690 minutes of play.
