IU Soccer: What better time than now?

The Hoosiers have been off to a rough start, posting a 6-4-2 record and sitting just fifth in the Big Ten Rankings. For the first time since I have been at Indiana, the Hoosiers are not in the national rankings.

But what better time than tonight to turn that around? The mighty Fighting Irish of Notre Dame who are ranked 9th in the country are heading south for a head on bout with the Hoosiers. A win here can significantly change the feeling in the IU locker room.

In the last three games, the Hoosiers are 1-2 with losses to 18th ranked Michigan and Michigan State. A win in this high scoring, in-state rivalry will boost the Hoosiers back into the national picture as a contending team. Not just because we have the Irish here tonight, but our next match is a home match with tenth ranked Louisville. These two wins could spark a new confidence with the struggling Hoosiers.

A few notes to take into account: Indiana dominates their opponents in number of chances they have to score with 206 shots and 74 corner kicks. This will help the Hoosiers in what has historically been a high scoring rivalry. Most importantly, the Hoosiers have not lost to a top 25 team this year. They have a record of 1-0-2 against elite teams in the league. This is promising seeing as how we are hosting two top ten teams this week. What can we do to help them come out victorious?

They need you! Come to Bill Armstrong Stadium to watch your Hoosiers take on the Fighting Irish.
