IU Football Practice Facilities

I know the North End Zone Project is mainly focused on more seating, but aren't there more practice facilities entailed in those plans? All I've got from the press release is this:

Quote:
This project would enclose the north end zone of Memorial Stadium with a facility that would provide space to accommodate coaches' offices and meeting areas for the football program, a Hall of Honor to spotlight successful student-athletes and teams throughout the history of IU athletics, and athletic administration offices. The new space also would house a strength development area to be used by more than 600 Indiana student-athletes. The project calls for the removal of the north and south end zone bleachers.
I guess that's fine, but I think we should take it one step further...like Ducks Locker Room further...

No it isn't. The old north bleachers have obviously already been removed, and the south bleachers will be demolished as well....which means the capacity is only going to increase by about 1500-2000. And included in those seats are club seats (like in the press box) and seats for the band. The main point of the project is to improve the practice facilities, like you said. The bottom level of the facility is a 24,000 sq. ft. weight room, which will be the biggest in the conference. We're also building a new hall of fame, new offices and meeting rooms, and an academic center under the east stands. We're basically building an entirely new football complex under the seats. The locker room/player's lounge was renovated a couple of years ago thanks to Trent Green, and our indoor practice field got new turf last summer.

I'd say our practice facilities are going to be fine.

You Gotta be kiddin'

When I look at the locker room for the Ducks, I'm shocked! I don't think I've ever seen a locker room at any university in the Big Ten even close to that.

My question is: Have you seen the locker room for our baseball team??? Have you seen their practice field???? (OOPS, they don't have one!) How about the playing field???

I'd suggest to the university that they play "fair" with all facilities. Before doing anything else for the football team or the basketball team, give the boys who are topping the charts in baseball some love....and give them their new field!!!

It's about time!

I agree with you....but I was responding to a post specifically about football facilities.

IU is still raising money for the new baseball/softball fields.
