Who do you want for the new AD?

There's still six months (at most) before Greenspan gets replaced? Who would you want to see get the gig?

The IDS listed Associate AD Scott Dolson, Senior Associate Athletic Director Chris Reynolds, former coach Dan Dakich, and Miami (OH) Brad Bates.

Personally I'd be surprising if they brought an in-house associate AD up, with all that IU athletics has been through the past couple of years.

As for Dakich, that's a MAJOR reach. He has no athletic director experience. I don't think you go from zero experience to a director position at a school like IU just like that.

Brad Bates, he could be a solid candidate, but I have a feeling we might push for someone from a fairly high-profile program.

Thoughts?

Hell, I have no idea who those people are, besides Dakich. I like Dakich's straight-laced attitude but I doubt that he has the general background to qualify for the other parts of the job. I'm pretty sure he just wants to coach, not be an athletics director.

I don`t know the others but Chris Reynolds played for the Hoosiers under coach Knight. Has been at IU in the AD office for a few years

I don't think it would be such a bad thing to promote someone from inside the program. I think that might even be what we want, someone who has been there for a long time and KNOWS the program and has a genuine feel for the history.

I'm not sure Dakich would be the best option but I wouldn't mind seeing someone from IU come into the position, as long as they're up for the challenge.

I agree with the notion that IU needs a highly paid, highly accountable person. We need a big-name AD who knows how to do the job fully and not cut corners. I think we might have tried to go with a more low-budget option with Greenspan and look where it got us. We finally stepped it up and paid out to a great bball coach in Crean, now it's time to do the same with the AD position.

I really want a top flight AD. Jurich sounds like a great cantidate, but why is he the only one IU is looking at that comes from a big time school? Maybe if we brought a big name, high paid AD in, he could revamp the football team. (Lynch is simply not the man to lead IU to prominence. He's not a Big Ten caliber head coach, he should've been a lifelong assistant.)

I hate to say it but I agree with you about Lynch. I think it was a hire based on emotion and the easy way out.

We definitely need to cough up the dough for a proven guy like Jurich.
