When IUplanet talked with Detroit linebacker
Jeremy Gainer just over a week ago, he said that IU was his top school. Yesterday he made his feelings official, verbally committing to play for the Hoosiers in 2009.
Here's a brief update from Gainer on his recent commitment
"I just felt comfortable with Indiana and knew it was the right place for me to be for the next 4 or 5 years. My plans for next year are to just stay focused on my grades and my football season next year, I feel that we can go to the top, it just takes commitment and now I can be committed to the game. I'm not sure if I'm going to enroll early [at IU], but its an option."
Gainer is one of two solid linebacker prospects who committed to play for the Hoosiers yesterday (Chicago LB Dimitrius Carr was the other), and should push for playing time soon in a linebacking corps that will lack depth, particularly after 2009.
He tallied 97 tackles, seven interceptions, and seven forced fumbles for Clarenceville last year.
