Four-star guard Maurice Creek commits to Indiana Hoosiers and Tom Crean for 2009
IU basketball coach Tom Crean came up with his third commitment for 2009 when 6'5", 195 lb shooting guard Maurice Creek announced that he would come to Indiana after finishing up his senior year in high school.
Creek is Crean's third commitment for 2009
Creek is from Temple Hills, Maryland, and attended South Kent Prep in Connecticut this past year. Rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com, he chose IU over offers from Marquette, Maryland, Miami, Pittsburgh, and Texas. Creek was recruited by Crean when he was still at Marquette University, but was quick to follow him to IU, similar to Bobby Capobianco (also 2009) and Nick Williams (2008).
With Creek's commitment, Crean has already developed a solid recruiting class for 2009 to help continue the rebuilding process of the IU program. After the departures of DJ White, Lance Stemler, Mike White, and Adam Ahlfeld to graduation, Armon Bassett and Jamarcus Ellis to dismissal, and Deandre Thomas and Eli Holman most likely to other programs, Crean has been working hard to begin restoring his team's depleted roster, and he has already had great success.
Here's a look at the talent that has committed to IU for either 2008 or 2009:
2008- Matt Roth (three-stars): 6'3", 175 lb shooting guard, committed to Kelvin Sampson in August of 2007.
- Tom Pritchard (three-stars): 6'8", 240 lb center, committed to Kelvin Sampson in September of 2007.
- Nick Williams (three-stars): 6'4", 215 lb shooting guard, committed to Tom Crean last month.
- Devan Dumes: 6'2", 185 lb shooting guard, JUCO transfer who committed to Tom Crean last month.
2009- Maurice Creek (four-stars): 6'5", 195 lb shooting guard, Crean's latest recruit.
- Derek Elston (four-stars): 6'8", 212 lb small forward, committed to Kelvin Sampson in September of 2007.
- Bobby Capobianco (three-stars): 6'8", 220 power forward, committed to Tom Crean last April.

Man, 2009 might not be the greatest year for Marquette University!

2009 is going to be a VERY good year for us. Crawford and McGee will hopefully still be here and experienced juniors, the 2008 class will have a year under their belts, and 2009 will infuse more depth in the frontcourt and a good dose of talent. Sounds like a recipe for success!

Yea, they're going to be hurting next year. Coaching changes like that never help a program. It helps us though!

That dunk was kinda lame...I was expected a reverse or a windmill or something.
I'm sure he's still nice though, just doesn't want to show off right??

Mo Creek Stats
24 ppg 5 rebound 5 assits 2 steals.
If he had a guard at oxon Hill High school in Oxon Hill Maryland, he would have scored 30 points a night; easily. He brought the ball up the court, passed it off, then would get it back and score. I seen him play at least 20 times if not more. This kids 4 real. A lot of school missed out. He played against a top recruit "Darnell Dotson 5 stars " in 10th grade at Oxon Hill HigH School at put up 40 on him, then shut him down. Defense is as good as his offense.
Great Pick Crean!

Man, that's the shit. I still wonder though...can we really judge dudes from 10th grade games?? This guy certainly looks legit, but ever since the media hype fluke of eric gordon, I wonder if we can really put faith in these kinds of players...
