A new story about IU basketball and academics

This story just came out today. Thought I'd share it to update all the concerned fans.

i don't like having academic woes. it's really embarrassing. i hope crean brings iu back to the glory days, where iu had academic and athletic success.

I think you have to look no further than the kids Crean has gotten since arriving here, start with the walk ons, great great students with great attitudes. Then there is Dumes, even though he wont count due to being a juco he was on the Deans list at CMU I believe, whatever MU it was, then Williams is no slouch either. NW comes from a strong family with many many stating what a great student he is and then Capo who loved the thought of getting a degree from IU and his I believe 3.7 gpa or 3.5.

I say look at Crean graduating almost 90% of his kids a Marquette and that sums it up, the guy understands what he is doing and being a bball coach is only part of it.

I too believe IU will get some relief from the APR due to 2 coaching changes in this time, a precedent has to be set to not punish schools for things out of their control and be rewarded for things within their control.

I still don't like giving us excuses. I think that the athletic department as a whole needs to be responsible for helping/making student-athletes maintain their grades. What I'm saying is--RICK GREENSPAN NEEDS TO GO!

Right on with that one. Greenspan should have been out the door with KS.

Crean is definitely moving this program in the right direction, but the Sampson regime left some deep scars in IU hoops in more ways then one. I expect major improvement both on and off the court with Crean, and I think Bob Knight will approve.

I can't believe that these academic woes were kept under the rug. I was under the impression that our team was doing well, but obviously those statistics were skewed in their favor. I don't buy that all the controversy surrounding Sampson is any sort of excuse for problems in school.

If we lose another scholarship due to this shit, we might be hurting for manpower next year..I really hope we can pull it out.
