I was just about to ask about it. We're already getting three guards this year. I don't think Jones will want to come to IU. Unless Ellis is out, we have no scholarships for him, and now he's gonna have a lot of competition for playing time.

go after him? With the recent pick ups of Dumes and Williams and the possibility of Basset coming back (not holding my breath on that one) and Crawford and Roth we are pretty loaded with #'s at guard. Not much experince at the point, but I'm sure Coach Creen can figure out that one somehow.

imo, i don't think we'll be going after jones anymore. we just offered a scholarship to maurice sutton, so if he accepts, that means we've used up 5 this year. that means ellis is probably gone. unless armon bassett is gone too, then we have no other scholarships to offer.

I saw where he is visiting Minny again and his father went against everything they have said about not committing on a visit, avoiding the heat of the moment choice. I must say though, he has been to Minny before so that theory just may be my wanting a pure PG for our team, Tubby has wanted this kid and looks like he will get him.

I see the mention of Sutton, this kid has a high ceiling for sure and I would love to see him at IU to go along with the big kids we already have. The only reservation I have is that I was hoping for a proven scorer from the Juco ranks to help up front the next 2 years and enable another scholly to be available for the ever growing and talented 2010 class in Indiana. I will trust Crean on this one though, if he thinks Sutton is deserving then I say sign him up and I will be a happy or I must say happier fan.

I know this is bad, but when I think of the Big Ten, I tend to forget about Minnesota. This is going to prove to be a terrible mistake sooner or later. Tubby Smith is a great coach and great recruiter and if you give him two more years, he's going to have that program turned around. Getting a guy like Verdell Jones would really help speed up the process.
