Taber out 10 weeks after knee surgery

IU's lone returning player with any significant playing time (not much at that), Kyle Taber, will miss 10 weeks because of knee surgery. Talk about bad luck, for both the team and Taber, who is a senior. Here's the official release from the Athletics Department:

Indiana University senior Kyle Taber injured his knee last week and will undergo surgery tomorrow. He is expected to be out for 10 weeks.

“This is very unfortunate for Kyle,” said IU Coach Tom Crean. ”He has been a strong presence and has done things the right way for us since we arrived here. We will move forward and help him through his rehabilitation and look to him to provide us with the leadership that is expected from a fifth-year senior at Indiana.”

He started four games last year and averaged 1.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 22 games.

i'll step up and say that this man stepped his game UP towards the end of the season last year

do i see him as an 'asset?' no. more of a wild card

he wouldve provided some serious leadership on the court imo, but i think whatever the new squad has developed in practice they'll have on the court, regardless of his presence...
