Coach Bruce Pearl and the Tennessee Vols got a nice surprise today as highly touted recruit
Emmanuel Negedu chose them over Georgia Tech, Memphis, and Indiana.
Tennessee was seen as an early leader when the 6'6", 225 lb Negedu was granted a release from his letter of intent to Arizona, but after Negedu chose four new schools and pledged to visit each one, each program got a fair swing at the best prospect still available for 2008. Now Negedu joins a recruiting class that was already ranked among the nation's best even before he joined the program.
This is disappointing but shouldn't be a huge surprise for the Hoosiers, who are suffering through a harsh rebuilding process right now. Negedu wanted to go to a program that would be winning immediately, and it appears that he got his choice.
Coach Tom Crean may have missed on this recruit, but there are still more
talented 2009 prospects to target with scholarships.
