After nearly fully recovering from the wrist injury that bothered him for much of his freshman year at IU,
Eric Gordon has a new injury to limit his play. The Los Angeles Clippers confirmed today that Gordon will miss the remainder of the
NBA Summer League with a strained left hamstring. He played in only two games in the Summer League before suffering the strain Saturday in a loss to the Charlotte Bobcats.
After one rocky season at IU, Eric Gordon can't seem to escape bad luck, this time suffering an injury that ended his NBA Summer League season early.
In two games with the Clippers in the Summer League so far, Gordon has continued the struggles from the perimeter that ailed him during the final stretch of his only season at Indiana. The 6’4’’ shooting guard missed 19-of-28 shots from the field in those two games. Gordon did demonstrate an ability to get to the charity stripe at the next level, though, reaching the free throw line 21 times in less than 60 minutes of total play.
The injury rules out an intriguing matchup some NBA fans were looking forward to, as Gordon was slated to match up against No. 3 overall pick O.J. Mayo and the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. The two never got to play each other in college.
Before his injury, Gordon was mostly used at the shooting guard position, a slot where he may share time with newly-acquired guard Baron Davis. The injury is certainly not something that Gordon wanted to happen, but it is just another obstacle (like Kelvin Sampson) that he should have little trouble overcoming.
Do you think the injury will hurt Gordon in the long run?
