Star PG Baron Davis goes to LA Clippers in fantastic development for Eric Gordon

This is a tad off-topic, but it's a very interesting development for former Hoosier standout and new Los Angeles Clipper Eric Gordon, who was drafted seventh overall just last week.

After opting out of his contract with the Golden State Warriors, point guard Baron Davis recently agreed to sign a 5-year, $65 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 21.8 points, 7.6 assists, and 4.7 rebounds last season.

This means that the Clippers now have a definitive answer at point guard and can play Gordon at his natural position as shooting guard. Gordon's floor leadership and overall point guard skills were very questionable, but everybody knows he can score.

Now with Davis running the offense, he gets the chance to do just that while learning the NBA ropes alongside an established veteran. Depending on how quickly Gordon develops, the pair could develop into one of the most dynamic backcourts in the league. If the Clippers can resign power forward Elton Brand, the Clippers could have an excellent nucleus to legitimately compete for a playoff spot in the near future.

Regardless of whether Brand is brought back, though, the Davis signing bodes extremely well for Gordon's future in the NBA. Now all the pressure on him to become a point guard is released and he can focus on what he does best.
